At $300 for the night, I was looking forward to staying, but I regret it now. The bed was uncomfortable, and a split in the shower hose meant I couldn’t shower. There was no option to call reception from the room. The side table’s glass top was cracked, hidden by a useless phone. When I spoke to the manager, he said he couldn’t fix it then, though he had some silicone tape. That left me inconvenienced when I wanted to shower and get to bed before an early start for Tasmania. The staff seemed fine, but the stay wasn’t worth the money. I’ve stayed in plenty of much cheaper hotels with better service. I won’t stay here again, and people reading this should seriously consider somewhere else. Very disappointing from Best Western. Hiring incompetent people can eventually come back to bite you, as it has here with this bad review. It felt like paying top dollar for a two-star hotel.

Carl has been fantastic to work with, accommodating us whenever we’ve needed rooms at short notice for business. Lately I’ve often booked 12 or more rooms at once, and he has handled it exceptionally well. My staff have also consistently had positive things to say about their stays. Based on those experiences, I highly recommend Best Western Geelong for affordable, comfortable accommodation in the area.

The room was well maintained and had recently been refurbished. We only needed somewhere to sleep the night before catching the ferry to Tasmania, and it did the job. If you’ll arrive after 6, you need to let them know. Calling puts you through to a national number, which passes on the message. It worked for us.

I’ve had an update to my review of Best Western Motel in Geelong, and I was a bit hasty with my earlier rating. Best Western wasn’t at fault. I couldn’t attend because of a family emergency, and when I tried to cancel through Expedia, they told me to contact the booking agent in the UK. The motel called on Friday night to ask when I’d arrive. I explained what had happened, and the person said they couldn’t refund or change the booking but would leave a message for the manager the next day. The issue was with Expida.
