Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park

The park was really clean, but we were packed in like sardines. Workers were there 7 days a week, with their 4 wheelers starting at 7 am, followed by the water Ute to keep the dust down. The noise from their work was bullshit. For what you pay, forget it. We stayed 4 nights and there were no refunds. I wish we’d only paid for the sunset. If you’re not fishing, it’s not a good stay. Hated it.

The location is good, near the pub and water, but the facilities are pretty basic and it doesn’t really seem worth the price. $57 for one person in a small, unpowered tent. Really?

We stayed one night at the start of October and were put in the back corner of the park by the mangroves. The midges ate us alive, and we had one of the worst nights’ sleep ever. Five days later, we’re still covered in bites that itch like crazy! At least we could walk to the pub for the amazing sunset, then get a load of laundry done and have a nice shower.

This park was impressively clean, with heaps of bins and clean toilets and showers. The camp kitchens are small but practical, and the fish cleaning gear is sensational. We were happy with our site, though American trucks with big vans make things tight in some areas. The ute driving around and putting water over the road helped keep dust down. I thought the price was a bit steep for 2 adults and 2 kids on a powered site, but overall it was worth it for the tidy park and the boat ramp location.
