Sphinx Hotel Motel

Being close to the Spirit of Tasmania was a bonus, but the meal was reason enough for another visit. The fish came out hot, fresh and full of flavour. Everyone at our table was impressed with the kitchen.

We enjoyed the Elvis Tribute Show, but having dinner there beforehand was a big mistake. The meals were overpriced and tasteless: the calamari was bland, and the Eye Fillet Steaks were undercooked and rubbery. I asked for garlic butter on the steaks and got ordinary butter instead. The salad was a stingy serving, mostly rocket lettuce. We paid $149.00, and I could have had a really good meal for that. Never again at their restaurant. If I go to another show, I’ll eat somewhere else before or after. Don’t waste your money.

We were five people having lunch today, and four meals arrived without mine. After about 10 minutes, when everyone else had nearly finished, I went to ask. They checked the dockets and hadn’t even started cooking it. When my meal finally came, they just put it on the table and walked away without an apology. I’ll never return, even if it were free, and I’ll tell as many people as I can not to waste their time.

The Egyptian theme gives this place a distinctive, impressive look, and there’s a fun, well-designed playground for the kids while you relax. The food and drinks are delicious, with plenty of variety. A great place to eat.
