The area was quiet and calm, just right for resting and unwinding. We had a lovely view of the boats, which made the stay feel so relaxing. Everything was clean, tidy, and well maintained, with all the amenities we needed for comfort. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily recommend it to others.

It was cheap, I guess, but getting to the car meant going through four sets of doors each time. With much luggage that would be a pain, especially having to pass through the smelly stairwell. The smell on the way to the lower rooms was disgusting, thankfully it wasn’t in our room, or we couldn’t possibly have stayed. The TV was tiny for a room this size. The on-site restaurant was closed, and the pool was closed in the middle of summer. It isn’t advertised anymore, thankfully, but that adds to the feel of the place. It generally seems like somewhere that used to be great to stay, but is now in mild disrepair.

The room at York Cove Apartments was spacious, very clean, and comfortable, with an especially fluffy, roomy bed that gave us a great night’s sleep. The towel warmer was a fun novelty, too. I stayed for one night and had a lovely experience overall. Finding our room felt like a maze. The warm welcome when we arrived helped, but more signs for the doors and stairwells would make it much easier to find your way. The gym looked impressive, and I’d have liked to use it if I’d stayed longer. The key lock box was a great idea, just remember the code. We struggled to work out how to unlock and open the front door, so a little sign saying “turn key and pull” could help future guests. The bathroom looked lovely at first, though mould around the shower seals and tile grouting took away from the appearance. The concierge was responsive, helpful, and very accommodating, but it was awkward that they weren’t on site just after 5pm when we had trouble with the front door. Sorry we had to call them away from a Woolworths shop to help. One thing for future guests: bakeries and restaurants in George Town close early, around 3pm. The only option available was a Chinese restaurant. It was reasonably priced, but the food wasn’t a great dining experience, rather bland and more like home cooking, and the canned desserts were underwhelming.

The room was huge, but very grubby. There was no room service, and no on-site restaurant, despite what the website advertised. The pool was covered with tarping that hundreds of seagulls used as a toilet and drinking spot. I didn’t see or come across any other guests. It was a very strange place, like the song " Hotel California". I wouldn’t recommend it.
