Room 21 had so many problems that we couldn't safely leave anything valuable behind. The door wouldn't lock from outside, and it was already unlocked when we got there. The guy acted as if he hadn't known, but it seemed pretty clear he did. We booked for five and got only three towels. The bathroom had mould and no fan, and there were big, sticky-looking red marks on the ceiling. Downstairs, the bedroom window had no fly screen, so we had to leave the door open all night for air. Several blind slats were missing, and the replacements were the wrong length, letting streetlight in all night. Trucks passing by could be heard constantly. The walls looked battered, with awful repair patches and no proper maintenance, and the carpet was stained all over and hadn't been cleaned. The worst place in Geraldton.

We lasted about 30 minutes before leaving because we were too frightened to sleep there. The so-called deluxe room felt like a prison cell, and we could hear everything through the walls. The sofa was so stained we wouldn't sit on it, there was mould everywhere, and the shower leaked across the whole bathroom. Even the curtains had stains from some mystery liquid. Do not go here.

The location just off Brand Hwy as you enter Geraldton is handy, and the price is decent. Staff were friendly enough, but cleanliness and security are why I rated it so low. I stayed two nights on separate trips, once heading north and once south. The first was a deluxe one-bedroom apartment. There was mould in the shower and on its curtain, the kitchen could have been cleaner, and the couch was broken. The bed was uncomfortable, and one bath towel was frayed, though that wasn't a major issue. On the second stay I had a basic one-bedroom apartment. It was much cleaner, but the aircon didn't work and there were no towels. The shower curtain had less mould, though the extractor fan was also out, so the bathroom couldn't air out. With the bedroom flyscreen broken and no aircon, the room got stuffy quickly. The couch also had white stains that needed attention. This place could be great, but it needs a simple plan to address the issues people keep raising. Replacing the shower curtains and towels would be a start, followed by tackling the bigger problems based on safety and hygiene.

We left at 19:50 after asking for another room and finding it had the same problems. The carpets were so sticky and filthy that we couldn't walk barefoot, the windows wouldn't close properly, and the curtains looked like they hadn't been washed. On arrival, a horrible smell was strong enough to take your breath away. The worst place I've ever stayed, not even worth half a star.

The unit was quiet and away from the busy road, with a pool on site. Inside, there was a roomy living, dining and kitchen area, a comfortable bed and a good shower. Parking was a little tricky.
