The African Reef

We had the KING SUITE WITH OCEAN VIEW, and it looked like the photos on their site. It was clean and well maintained, with free toiletries, a kitchenette stocked with utensils and dishwashing soap, and great shower pressure. The mattress and pillows had just the right firmness, and the staff were accommodating. The views are AMAZING, and it’s 5-7 mins to the main beach area. Great value for the location. A few small things could be improved: there’s only one bathroom hook, a full or half body mirror would be handy for fit checks, and the soap bar holder is awkwardly placed on the glass divider, so you can hit it. Highly recommend!

The sunset over the water from the grounds was a highlight, and the resort is right on the ocean in one of the best spots in Geraldton. We stayed as a family of four and had a really enjoyable time. Our family room was clean, comfortable and well set up, with comfortable beds, cold air-conditioning, and all the amenities we needed. The rooms have smart TVs connected to WiFi, and guest WiFi is available for other devices, so you can stream Netflix and other services if you like. There’s a good choice of room layouts, from one-bedroom options to family rooms with a king or queen bed and bunks, or a queen bed plus two singles. You can see the care put into the place, with rooms cleaned, gardens maintained and quiet maintenance happening through the day without disturbing guests. Someone is always on site, and requests are handled quickly and professionally. We needed extra towels and they arrived promptly. There’s a nice little pool and BBQ area in the middle of the resort, ideal for winding down after the beach. For the location, comfort and overall experience, it’s great value. We’d happily return.

The location is good and the bed was comfortable, but I didn’t feel clean after finding the mess beneath it. Room 3 looked lovely at first, then I noticed years’ worth of dust, numerous dead bugs and hair of different colours from all parts of the body scattered underneath. The bed is raised, so it should be easy to clean. It felt like the dirt had just been brushed underneath to hide it. There’s also an extremely bright light across from the room that stays on all night. The very thin blinds don’t block it from coming through the window.

Everything was in good condition, including the remote lights and fan in the master bedroom. The other bedroom was also in good shape, and the bathroom’s large shower felt great after a long drive. The rooms were well kept, and the kitchen items were clean and neatly put away. I’d book again without hesitation.
