Diamond Cove Resort

We paid $290 for one night and were completely disgusted. We’d booked two nights, but couldn’t manage more than one. If it hadn’t been so late when we checked in, we would have left straight away. The place was filthy. There was black mould in the bathroom, cockroaches coming out of the drains, leaking toilets, sand on the furniture, ants all over the kitchen bench and dust about an inch thick everywhere. The curtains looked like someone had wiped dirty hands on them. The air conditioners barely worked and looked a hundred years old, so it was really hot. There was more as well. Even with a 3 Star rating, the place should still be cleaned. Management were rude and didn’t care what we thought. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The resort grounds are kept up well, but unit 46 was filthy. There was leaf litter, mould and spider webs all over the balcony, the carpet felt greasy, and the pots and cutlery had to be washed before we could use them. The windows needed washing too. When we mentioned it to the concierge as we left, he didn’t seem surprised and clearly didn’t care.

We were there for 9 nights and the apartments were extremely clean and well equipped, with pots, pans, cups and plates in the kitchen. The friendly service was good, though the mid-week clean we expected never happened. It’s close to everything you’d need, but away from the GC noise. Families should find it a good fit. The pool has a 'beach area', there’s a bbq to the side, and the outdoor furniture is good, with shade. The only thing I’d pick on is the glitchy digital foxtel. Our 6yr old couldn’t watch while we tried to make food, and after the kids went to bed we were stuck with free to air. That wasn’t really the resort’s fault.

It’s a quiet resort with easy access to the main road for driving or public transport, and the beach is only a block away. There are just 3 levels, plus a pool, a spa and bbq facilities for families or anyone who wants to use them.
