Beaches on Wave Street

I loved the location, with fun-looking cafes and eateries nearby and not too many tourist traps. The apartment access was straightforward, thanks to several staircases and car park entrances; the automatic lights were handy too. The secure car park had spaces that were neither too tight nor especially generous. The unit, booked through Airbnb, was pleasant but basic. I appreciated the huge TV and Netflix, though the internet was down for a couple of days after I arrived. That was just bad timing, and my messages didn't reach the host until later that day. It took a little over two days to get the connection back. The host wasn't the on-site manager. The full kitchen was useful, and the bathroom was pretty good, with a washer and dryer. The toilet was awkwardly positioned for a full-size person, though, and the dryer stopped working on my last day, so I took some wet clothes home. There was occasional, minor roadwork noise out back, and a few times I could hear people upstairs at 4am. The entrance lock was loud enough to sound like someone coming in, which was more noticeable overnight and early in the morning. Most of the time the noise was fine. I'd rate my unit closer to 3.5 stars, but I enjoyed my stay.

Felix really made our stay special. He was friendly, attentive and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the service was top notch. We had an amazing time at Beaches on Wave Street hotel in Gold Coast QLD and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Gold Coast. Thanks again, Felix.

The location is the one good thing here, and I mean the only one. The room was average, and the beds had just one sheet. There were renovations going on during our stay, but nobody told us about them after we'd booked. We didn't see any staff when checking in or out, and even getting into the room was a mission. There were no bathroom hygiene products such as shampoo, and the tea supplies were three bags and three sugar packets, with no milk. For a place rated four stars, it was a real disappointment. At best I'd give it three stars for the location. If you have a choice, stay somewhere else.

The ongoing work was a big disappointment, especially with tradies working right above the pool. I wish we'd been told before booking, because we wouldn't have come. We left a day early, which probably sums up the stay. The only good things were the location and the young Italian girl who was very helpful when we asked to change rooms. Room number 1 was unacceptable and unclean. We were moved from a two-bedroom to a one-bedroom, which was fine.
