Focus Apartments

The location was the one good thing: close to the main strip, with a great view of the beach and city. But our room was full of cockroaches and other small bugs. I even had one join me in the shower, and nearly shared my morning coffee with another. Not exactly a good breakfast date. There was dust everywhere, stains on the bed, a broken dishwasher and only one of the two showers worked. Reception said we could leave our bags there while waiting for the room, but they were left in a lobby corner where anyone could take them. For what we paid, I expected a clean room. We should have stayed somewhere else. Stay here if you’re going to the local cockroach festival!

The location and views were amazing. At least we didn’t have cockroaches. The accommodation itself was the worst I’ve experienced in my life. The room was filthy, with discarded eyelashes, nail clippings and pubic hair, a forensic crime-scene treasure trove. The website photos and description must be of a different building. I won’t bore you with details, but other people’s horrific experiences give you the gist. Please don’t book unless you’re okay with filth.

The ocean view was nice and made the place feel more comfortable, but the rooms were awful. The hotel also has a plumbing problem now, and the whole building smells. During my one-night stay, I saw ants in the bedside table, bedbugs in the walls, and cockroaches in the trash. The place felt unsanitary, and the couch was old, dusty, and wrinkled. I didn't find bugs on myself, and I had no visible bites or lice. I wouldn't recommend it.

The part that bothers me most is that they haven't replied to my emails. I booked Focus Apartments with four others because it had a pool, but it was closed. Nobody mentioned that when we booked, and the information sheet didn't say so either. The receptionist told us to walk across the road to the beach, without any compassion. My grandson was very disappointed, and that beach wasn't suitable for him to swim at. The apartment was spacious, though old and dirty in places. The windows were filthy, there was mildew in the showers, the rug was stained, and the glass table felt unsafe. Very disappointing. They must be inundated with complaints.
