Oaks Gold Coast Calypso Plaza Suites

The pool, amazing view and perfect location made this a stay we loved, and we’ll be back. The rooms could use some attention, though. Fixtures are old, an oven tray was missing, the linen supplied didn’t match the number we’d requested, and low smoke alarm batteries caused a bit of trouble. Nothing major, but a few things to sharpen up.

Valerie Noel at the Front Desk made my stay wonderful. She’s a charming, delightful lady from Uruguay 🇺🇾 ❤️, and her outstanding service is why I’ll return to this special place. It’s also good value, conveniently close to the beach, and has household appliances and facilities.

The pool is fantastic for kids, and the location is great. The rooms are dated, but clean and functional, and seem well suited to adults. With one adult and two young children, though, the two-bedroom adjoining apartment caused us a lot of anxiety. The bedrooms are separate rooms, quite a distance apart, with an alcove and shared front door. The heavy doors need stoppers to stay open, leaving the children with full access to the alcove’s front door. Balcony doors don’t lock with a key, and the light furniture is easy for children to move near the balcony. The bath showers were very slippery, and each bath really needs a non-slip mat. We moved a mattress into the main bedroom so we could sleep together, then shifted furniture to block the balcony door in the second room.

The room was clean and the kitchen had everything I needed. I loved the holiday here, especially the very good pool and the location, close to restaurants and beaches.
