The place is well maintained, with friendly, helpful, and understanding staff. It's pretty standard accommodation, and the kidney-shaped pool looks clean. The balconies seem nice for sunbathing on hot summer days and nights. It was quiet, good for reading and studying. From Sally Sherer: I'm just 50, the same age as Kylie Minogue, Pamela andersen, Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt, and tom cruise, and a couple of years younger than Cindy Crawford!!!!

The pool was cloudy, the car park was strewn with rubbish, broken couches, and twisted metal, and the permanent residents at Sunset Court were so rude that I stopped using the balcony and kept the curtains shut. They stared at us and into our apartment, sat facing each other on their balconies, yelled, and drank beer. The apartment itself was filthy and rundown. It was small, dingy, and badly kept, and the cheapness was in the contents, not the price. In the kitchen, plates and a spatula still had food on them, the kettle didn't work, there were no scissors, and the oven handle was missing. After using the oven once, its door got hot and was hard to open and close. The dining table was unusable because its top just rested on bent legs that kept folding in. The lounge fan didn't work, and there was no air conditioning in the lounge room in Surfers Paradise. One balcony chair had a bent leg and someone fell when they sat on it. The balcony door was very hard to operate and wouldn't lock, while the railing seemed worryingly low. The cupboard labelled for cleaning held dusty bits of wood, a visibly broken vacuum, and no mop. We couldn't vacuum during our stay. The beds in the second bedroom were springy and shoved together. The foldout bed looked like it had come from Salvos rubbish bins, was bent, and had a leg that seemed ready to collapse. The remote for the second bedroom fan worked only about one click in a hundred, and its mirror was unusable, possibly from smoke damage. In the main bedroom, a canvas and its nail fell off the wall in the middle of the night. The bathroom was horribly hot and damp, with no ventilation. Opening the window meant people could see in while you showered or used the toilet, or even break in. There was no fly screen, privacy screen, or other security. Water poured through the ceiling above the shower, and more came from the faucet where the shower head connects instead of from the shower head itself. This place has to be ten times worse than anywhere else that would make me complain and warn people away. Don't even consider this dump. It almost ruined our holiday.

There was a syringe sitting in the cupboard because the place was so unclean. When I raised it, the manager was rude and refused to refund us. It was the worst experience. Honestly, sleeping in your car feels safer.

The rooms were absolutely disgusting, and I'd never stay there. It feels like they love scamming money out of people. Even the front of the motel is appalling.

We stayed there five years ago, and it doesn't look like much has changed. I thought the health department would've shut it down by now! I think the manager is still the same woman we used to call "little hitler."
