We found the rooms worn and old when we checked in for two nights at Tiki at short notice with our three-year-old. They looked nice enough online, but the pull-out couch had stains and hairs and wasn’t inviting. Most of the bedroom upholstery was torn, shutters between the bathroom and living area were broken or missing, and the place looked untouched since 1985. It wasn’t exactly dirty, but the WiFi didn’t work either. We arrived late and went straight out to dinner. I worried about losing our $200,- bond because of the room damage, but the receptionist understood and noted that I’d reported it. Someone fixed the WiFi within half an hour, which was good. The location is handy for shops and bars, but it’s very noisy. The windows barely block the traffic, music, and drunk pedestrians, which kept us awake until 2.30am. Garbage trucks started arriving at 5:30am. With updated rooms and better soundproofing it could be a good stay, but at the moment I wouldn’t recommend it, especially with young kids.

I was stuck there because nowhere else was available at the last minute. The only alternative offered was to check out early; they didn’t offer another room, perhaps because they knew it would be just as bad. I’ve stayed in $100-a-night places that were much better. Take your money elsewhere unless a dingy, unkept place is what you’re after. It seemed like a druggie hotel to me. The online photos made the rooms look new, modern, and renovated, but they were very misleading. Even the spa bath photos had been edited to look bright white and new. In reality, the bathroom was yellowed and dated. There was furniture falling apart, cracked mirrors, holes in the walls, and other broken things. I added a few photos showing how bad it was. At almost $250 a night in a non-peak season, the quality was outrageous. I wouldn’t have booked if the photos matched the actual rooms. When I raised it with reception, I was told that only about three of the roughly 800 rooms were modern and renovated like the ones shown online, and they were all booked. What a joke.

The rooms and facilities are dated and could use a refresh, but the staff were very friendly. The location is fantastic, so convenient for everything nearby, and it more than made up for the older decor. We had a pleasant stay overall. A solid choice if you want a great location and don’t mind things looking a little older.

Meshelle/Mechelle was so friendly and helpful at both check-in and check-out, and the young woman who helped us in the evening was lovely too. The room was big, the bed comfortable, and my son had a great time on the slide. The building and facilities are a bit older. We couldn’t switch the spa from shower to tap to fill it, but we still enjoyed a nice bath, and the room had a lovely view. We were very happy with our stay. Thank you 😊

We had a great view of the lake from our fifth-floor room, and there was enough space for the whole family. My sister and mum used the pull-out couch, the kids slept in the bedroom with two single beds, and my husband and I had the master bedroom. A large family can fit comfortably. The air con wasn’t working when we arrived, but a friendly staff member fixed it while we were at sea world. The price was right, parking was free, and I enjoyed our visit to sea world with Mum, my husband, my nephew, my sister, and my kid. I’d stay again!
