Victoria Square 2 Bed Ocean View Broadbeach

The apartment’s location didn’t make up for how much of our long weekend was taken up by problems. We couldn’t properly use the room for a full day, and left frustrated and disappointed. We wouldn’t stay again at Victoria Square Apartments – Broadbeach. After a smooth late check-in on Thursday, we went out for breakfast Friday morning and came back to find two tradesmen installing an air conditioner inside our occupied accommodation. Nobody had told us they’d be coming in. Management offered a brief apology and blamed another staff member. We had to spend the day outside or on the balcony instead of relaxing. The advertised pool was closed for renovations, with no mention of this on the booking site. Other reviews suggest it had been closed for a while. On Saturday, our reserved parking space was occupied. Management took no action, and the driver who called the next day said they’d been assigned that same space number. The apartment looked tidy but wasn’t clean. The microwave didn’t work, so the microwave food we bought went to waste, and the bedding was stained. A pub next door played loud music, so don’t expect to sleep before midnight.

The place was filthy during our three-night stay, even though the location was great. There were dead cockroaches, thick dust behind the beds, smelly bathroom drains, dirty windows, and bathroom fans that didn’t work. When I reviewed it on booking.com, I was told I should have raised the cleanliness problems earlier. Other reviews make it seem like management would rather belittle people with genuine complaints than address the issues. The units are grubby and dated. If guests expect a clean room, that’s basic customer service.

The location was the only good thing about this hotel. My family and I booked three days, and it was the worst hotel stay we’ve had. The place was filthy and smelled bad. The toilet had no lock, so one person had to hold the door while another used it. The air conditioning didn’t work, and we were so hot we had to open the windows. That let in the noise from construction, and we’d wake up soaked with sweat. The pool, gym, sauna and more weren’t working either. The notice about this was in such small print that we didn’t see it. We felt unwelcome and were treated horribly because we’re Muslim. The receptionist was rude, and other guests made rude comments too. I wouldn’t recommend booking here.

The apartment was spacious, the beds were clean and comfortable, and the area was close to everything. My two boys even liked watching the building sites outside. With the doors shut, the noise wasn’t too loud. The couple running the place were friendly and said good morning when we saw them. We enjoyed staying here and would come back. There were some issues in the room: the air conditioner was very dirty and parts were broken, so we couldn’t use it. Some lights in the dining and TV rooms were also partly broken. Leaving was stressful as we got everything and our two boys into the car. We handed the keys over ten minutes after 10am. I apologized and explained, but the owner’s mood seemed to change. He wasn’t very friendly and didn’t really say goodbye or ask if we’d enjoyed the stay. That was disappointing after a good visit, since we hadn’t meant to be late.
