The blossom trees were in full bloom during our three nights at Owl Head Lodge, and the whole place felt like a postcard, with lovely gardens, quiet countryside, kangaroos and Highland cows. We were there for our sister’s wedding and left feeling relaxed and refreshed. The Glass Cottage for us and the adjoining Glass Studio rooms for our adult children worked so well, giving everyone privacy while still keeping us together. The cottage was modern, comfortable and had everything we needed, plus thoughtful touches that made it feel homely. Waking up to the view through the glass walls was a highlight. A few minutes’ drive from Gulgong, and we can’t wait to come back.

We first stumbled on this place nine years ago while heading to a city and country game in Mudgee, after we couldn’t find accommodation there. What a lucky find. My wife and I love it, and the glass house studio is brilliant. It feels like peace on earth, just somewhere to relax without worrying about the world. We spent our honeymoon there, and the host really looked after us. I’d go back in a heartbeat and definitely recommend it.

The peaceful setting and open views were gorgeous, with Highland cows and local wildlife around the property. We stayed in Shearer’s Cottage #2 for a weekend and wished we’d booked longer. It was spotless, spacious and had everything our family of four needed, with a really comfortable bed. There’s room for everyone to enjoy it, whether sitting by the fire pit, relaxing by the pool or just taking in the serenity. We’ll be back.

Work usually lands me in pretty average accommodation, so Owl Head Lodge was a real surprise. The room felt warm and homely and was beautifully set up, and both the views and location were fantastic. I’ll definitely return.

A restful, comfortable retreat, and you can see how much planning and work has gone into the accommodation and pool. We had a really wonderful stay.
