The Studios by Haus, Ascend Hotel Collection

The room was very clean, with a huge double bed that had plenty of space for two adults. There was a large walk-in shower, shampoo, two big towels, spare toilet rolls, a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, lots of clothing storage, and remote-controlled air conditioning. Getting in was easy. The morning we arrived, we got an email and text with our room number and the four-digit code for the key safe outside the room. The safe was clearly marked and easy to find. I also asked about checking in before the time listed on the website, and they replied within an hour with an update. The private off-road parking is right in front of the accommodation, and the main street is less than a minute away on foot. The entrance is beside the Haus Restaurant. Can't fault it, 10/10, and I'd absolutely recommend it.

The staff were excellent, both at reception and at the Haus Restaurant. They offered to send maintenance for the leaking shower and replaced the kettle, and the place was lovely and peaceful. For service alone, I'd give them a 10. The room itself didn't feel worth $304.00 a night. It was very basic, and I expected more, though I know this is Hahndorf. The shower tap fell off, the kettle wouldn't switch off, and there were shaver covers and clumps of dust on the shower sill. The walls had lots of marks, with dust and rubbish in places they shouldn't be. As someone who owns accommodation, I think the Haus Studios need some touch-ups, a deep clean and an update. We couldn't get secure parking until the second night because members of the public were using the spots marked Guest Parking only. The TV kept freezing because of what seemed like slow internet, so I couldn't log into anything. I wouldn't stay again at this price, especially after having stayed at The Manna before. For the rooms and price, I'd give it around 5/10.

Right in the middle of Handorf, with shops and restaurants all around. The service was warm and friendly, especially from Phoebe. A lovely place to stay.

The one thing I really liked was being so close to the shops. Beyond that, the front studio was disappointing. People were walking in from the street and around the apartments from morning until night, and children from the restaurant were left to run around the apartments as if they were a playground. The back hot plate didn't work, and the small freezer was so iced up that I couldn't fit my ice packs in. I asked for extra Nescafe sachets and found they were years past their best-before date. For more than $300 a night, this was below standard. I like Michael Bublé, but hearing his music day after day from the restaurant was too much.
