Caledonian Hotel Motel

We tried the crumbed whiting, bourbon crispy pork, and rump steak with fat chips and Caesar salad. Every meal was excellent. The service was friendly, and you can get a good meal here at any time of day. Great pub food.

The food was a real highlight. I was encouraged to try the Lamb Shoulder and was glad I did. Mrs SGH chose the Korma from the specials board and loved it, while No.1 daughter was very happy with her parma and Mushroom Gravy on the side. It's pub food, but made to a great standard. The beer garden is clean and pleasant, though there's no view, and the ladies said the dunnies were good. My only gripe was that the high tables in the beer garden were rickety.

After a long drive on a cold night, this felt warm and welcoming. The food and service were great, and our table ordered a good range of things from the menu without any complaints. I'd definitely visit again next time I'm back in Hamilton.

The meals people at our table ordered all got rave reviews, and my lamb was just to die for. The gravy was the real deal too, with actual mushrooms and clumps of thyme. The menu has the usual pub grub, but the food itself was exceptional. It's still pub food rather than five star dining, but if every pub in Australia could do even half as well, we'd all eat like kings. Well done to the kitchen staff. We'll be back.
