The owners kept guests informed and calm about the fires near Nerong, and the service was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble. The pool slide and hot tub were a hit with my four-year-old, my two-year-old and my hubby. We could hear the waves from nearby bennetts beach from our verandah. We stayed one night last night, and we’ll be back for longer.

For a quick, low-budget weekend away, this place worked really well. The rooms were decent and clean, though they could use a little renovation. It was reasonably priced and suited families, with a pool and water slide, plus an amazing attached restaurant. The town felt peaceful and very family oriented.

Benchmark On Booner was the standout for me, both the bar and restaurant, with attentive, friendly staff. The location is the other big plus. The motel has three levels, on-site parking, a pool and a spa. Rooms are basic, with a microwave and kitchenette but no cooking facilities. The doors, windows, blinds and screens all need replacing.

The rooms are a good size with basic amenities, and the service was fabulous, nothing was too much effort. The rooms are old, so you’re paying for the location, location, location. Bring a bread knife if you can, there are some lovely bakeries nearby with fresh bread.

We booked the day we arrived, and Maria was helpful and friendly. I called on her a few times for advice and things like extra milk sachets and towels, and she was always happy to help. Thank you, Maria❣️ My one gripe with staying at Oceanside is the noticeboard message saying all dishes must be washed and put away before checkout or there’ll be a $25 charge to your credit card. What? At $170 a night for two, we shouldn’t also have to clean up 👎
