The rooms have been renovated, though the carpets still need replacing. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning was great. Breakfast was included in the price, but the tea cups were too small for me. Coffee mugs, extra pillows, and a table lamp would be appreciated. There was only one TV station, and although the free Wi-Fi worked for my sister, it didn’t work for me. It’s centrally located. I’d stay again and recommend it.

The reception staff were really friendly, and I liked being able to step straight from my room onto the huge balcony. The air conditioning worked well and the bed was comfortable, although it was two singles pushed together. There was a large tear in the carpet beside the bed, and the TV didn’t work. I’d stay again if the TV is working and the carpet has been replaced.

For the price, I quite liked the room. It’s an actual motel, not a hotel with rooms, and the room was tidy with a clean, bright shower, fridge/freezer, and tea and coffee. No biscuits, though. The pub part was closed, so it was a dry setup, but the Riverina Hotel is about a four-minute walk away. The TV didn’t work, and neither did Netflix, which was supposed to come with the room. Reception said there were connectivity issues and, with limited eleco's, the repairs were on the back burner. We ended up heading to the Riverina pub for entertainment. It was a three-hour stop on our way from home to Adelaide.

We booked one night through booking.com in 2021. There were mice in the first room, so we asked to move and were given another. That room had holes in the corners, and we politely asked for them to be blocked because we worried mice might get in. They refused. A few minutes later, at 10 pm, they knocked and told us to leave, saying they were concerned we might cause more “trouble” overnight while they weren’t there. It was pitch black outside, and everything in Hay had closed. We were left with possibly nowhere to stay in a small town in the middle of nowhere. The rooms had mice, and the way they treated us was disgusting. Avoid it at all costs. When we left the first room, we saw staff folding the duvet we’d used during our very brief stay. I don’t know whether they wash the bedding and quilts for each new guest.

We stayed one night on a motor tour, and there were defects in both rooms we were offered. The first had a bathroom light that didn’t work and huge holes in the carpet. When we asked to move, staff warned us the next room had a bathroom door that jammed. It did, and my partner struggled to close it. Staff seemed unable to manage the room problems in a way that would make the stay comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was a joke. If you arrived late, it hadn’t been restocked, and dirty dishes sat on a trolley in the middle of the room. The place is in poor repair, with rules posted on every wall and bugs to dodge. Parking is either in a gravel lot at the back or on the street out front. Food and drinks are nearby. Book elsewhere if you can. Another great Aussie country PN gone to the dogs.
