Shizuka Ryokan Japanese Country Spa & Wellness Retreat

My partner surprised me with a Valentine's visit to this beautiful retreat, and I was completely in awe. The mineral bath was so relaxing, and the aromatherapy massage felt like it took us to another dimension. We left refreshed and relaxed, and would recommend the place wholeheartedly. Thanks for the hospitality, we'll be back. A shoutout to our massage therapists Maggie and Sonia, who were absolutely amazing.

We only stayed one night, but really loved it. It felt authentic, rather than just Japanese-themed, and wearing the provided Yukata to dinner and breakfast added to the experience. The in-room bathtub was amazing. The food was the highlight: breakfast was delicious, and the omakase dinner was well worth the extra cost. The staff were friendly and respectful.

We had a relaxing night with the dinner package in September. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, and staff were really accommodating with my dietary needs. I wanted to share pictures since I hadn't found many while looking the place up. A few things could be better. Our room looked dated and could use a refresh, even a new coat of paint. Cups left by previous guests were still there where we sat for check-in. We also accepted the omotenashi welcome tea in our room, then waited a long time after being forgotten. We eventually stepped out to ask politely if it was coming, and unfortunately missed the lunch window at another restaurant. Still, we enjoyed the room and exploring the area around Daylesford. The bathtub and scented bath salts were a big plus, and we liked both dinner and brekkie.

That hot magnesium-rich bath in the Japanese garden, with the space to yourself, was a moment of real serenity. I loved the bathing ritual, and the shiatsu was great too. The spa is excellent. If you're after mineral baths in Daylesford/Hepburn Springs, this is a good option.
