Those log cabins are lovely if you’re travelling with your partner. I’ve stayed in one with its own open fire, and it felt really romantic. For the main lodge, the rooms are simple but the beds are comfortable, the heaters keep them warm, and the bathrooms are clean and heated too. The shared space is a big part of what makes this place special. There’s a huge fireplace with plenty of comfy lounge seating, plus two wood stoves that make the large, well-built room feel cosy. Long gumwood tables give everyone a place to sit down for a meal after a day on the slopes. The hosts are warm, helpful family people, and were happy to show me the new kitchen, including its chargrill. The fireplace also heats a large drying room that got my snow gear dry overnight. I know there are rules, and I’ve seen the complaints about them, but they help keep the place clean and pleasant for everyone. I’m happy to bring indoor UGGs or slippers. Snow boots would quickly make the shiny floor dirty and slippery. It’s under 10 minutes to Jindabyne, and the value makes it my favourite stay when I’m heading to Thredbo or Perisher. Such a beautiful, quiet, relaxing place. I’m glad it’s open again and keeping the Legend Rodney Rocket’s tradition going.

We’re already planning to come back after our stay with a school group of more than 35. Kerrin, Mick, Graham, and Aya were welcoming and patient, and adapted to what our group needed. They really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Rivergum Lodge is about 30 minutes from the ski tube entrance and 15 minutes from Jindabyne town centre. It has a homely feel, fireplaces, and thoughtful touches throughout. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms clean, and there’s a drying room. We also enjoyed the food. The building itself has a lot of character, and was made with materials from the block it stands on. It worked well for our large school group, and I’d recommend Rivergum Lodge for a family gathering too. Thanks to the Rivergum team, until next time!

We had loads of room for everyone on our family trip to Rivergum. The fireplace was a great place to gather, and the atmosphere made for a lovely weekend. We had such a good time and can’t wait to return.

Mick made us feel very welcome at Rivergum lodge. It’s a lovely, cosy place for a winter break, whether you’re off to the snow or just looking for a weekend away. We had an amazing stay and I’d happily recommend it.

The rooms were okay, and the house has a distinctive look. What bothered me was how focused the host seemed to be on his rules. I felt guests had to follow whatever he said, even about how we spoke. If he didn’t like the way you talked, he would tell you and ask you to change it. A service provider should treat customers with courtesy and provide good service. That’s what matters most. Please keep that in mind.
