I liked the calm, welcoming feel of The Alabama, especially the common area, where guests and the public can relax. There are happy hour cocktails in the evening and coffee in the morning. The staff were helpful with suggestions for food and things to do, and dining options nearby range from high-end to mid-range and budget friendly. The harbour and major tourist attractions are close. It’s a clean, minimalist hotel right in the CBD, handy for exploring Hobart on foot. Despite being central, it’s surprisingly quiet at night. The bedrooms are simple and well presented, with comfortable bedding and a mini fridge. Communal bathrooms are spotless and well maintained. There’s no in-room kitchenette, but staff readily provide cutlery, a thoughtful practical touch.

Such a unique, artsy, hip place, with a cool bar and great vibes. It feels nothing like the usual boring hotels designed by reptilian corporate overlords. The staff are friendly, and check-in was the easiest I’ve ever had anywhere. Loved my stay. This is the place to stay in Hobart!

The booking agent hadn’t mentioned that the bathrooms were shared, so finding that out gave us a bit of a panic. We decided to try it anyway and were really surprised by how clean the facilities were. The bedrooms were cozy and quiet too. It’s a good budget option in Hobart, and there’s even a bar open until 8pm.

This feels like my home away from home. The lounge is so cozy, the staff are rad, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. I love the outdoor balcony overlooking Liverpool St., and it’s a great spot for a cocktail. WiFi is great too. Bathrooms are generally shared, which I don’t mind, and it’s affordable. 10/10, ya gotta check it out.

As fly-in hikers from Adelaide, we found this place fabulous, and the staff really bent over backwards to help us. The price was amazing for rooms right by the Hobart mall and Coles supermarket. Hands down the best. The decor is beautiful too, and my favourite part was the vinyl record player.
