Best Western Mango House Resort

There’s a small shopping centre across the road with a supermarket, cafe, post office, ATM and laundromat; Jubilee Tavern is just 200 metres away, and the nearby bus costs 50 cents. Mango House is a convenient place to stay, only five minutes from Airlie Beach, away from the bustle but close to everything there. The resort manager was welcoming and friendly, and offered local tourism advice. Our room was spacious and clean, with all mod-cons and a comfortable bed. There’s a huge pool, a spa and a kids’ splash pool surrounded by lush North Queensland plants. A lovely way to experience tropical Queensland, highly recommended.

It’s peaceful and quiet here, away from the hustle and bustle of Airlie Beach, and the pool area is awesome. The bus stops right outside and costs 50 cents per ride, or $1 a day to go into the main centre and beyond. There’s a tavern and a small supermarket for essentials across the road. Can’t recommend it enough. 😄😄😄

The customer service was absolutely reprehensible. Reception called to say I’d be blacklisted from every hotel in Airlie Beach because I’d swum in the pool after hours, but nobody in my group, including me, had gone in the pool at all. When we challenged them, staff tried to change the story. Totally disgusting behaviour. If they’re going to accuse me of something, they should get the facts straight first.

The location is really good and the pool is nice and clean. But there were a few downsides: no internet, and the rooms couldn’t pick up 4G or 5G either. The apartment kitchen wasn’t very clean, and there wasn’t even a sponge or anything to wash dishes with. It was also really loud at night with all the birds and animals. Oh my!
