The room was spacious and spotless, and breakfast was a generous continental spread. Ruth made us feel so welcome. Shambhala Guesthouse is a peaceful, lovely base for exploring the southwest, and we had a fantastic stay. I'd happily recommend it.

Those views and the homemade breakfast bread were the best parts of our couple of nights at this cute B&B. Our room was roomy and nicely equipped, with its own bathroom and shower, and we really enjoyed the stay. Getting around on foot is the catch: the place sits at the top of a hill, and the driveway is so steep and crumbling that you have to drive anywhere off the property.

We spent six nights here and were sorry to leave. It was the perfect spot to rest, with birdsong in the morning and a view that kept changing as we sat by the cosy, welcoming fire. Each morning brought fresh bread and a nice range of local preserves. Ruth, Rory and Heather were kind and generous hosts, and it was easy to enjoy friendly conversations with them and the other guests. The setting is peaceful and picturesque, the amenities were very comfortable, and the thoughtful little details made our stay feel special. We’re looking forward to coming back.

I came here to get some rest, and it was just right. Rory and Ruth welcomed me warmly, and my room was spotless, had everything I needed, and came with a very comfortable bed. The cooked breakfast was delicious, made how I wanted, and more than enough. I also loved unwinding in the beautiful dining room and lounge. Thanks so much, Rory and Ruth.

We'd loved the peace and views at Shambhala earlier in the year, and Rory had been a fantastic host, so my wife and I returned with a group of friends. You can wonder whether a second stay will measure up, but we weren't disappointed. Rory and Ruth looked after us so well, and the scenery, calm atmosphere and new lambs all lived up to what we'd hoped for. On a clear night, it's a superb spot for stargazing. We'll be back.
