We had a confirmed Expedia booking, but Manager Patrick still refused to check us in because the room wasn't ready. He was arrogant and rude, shouting, “Go somewhere else!” It was a horrible experience. If you need reliable, trustworthy accommodation on Kangaroo Island, this isn't the place. Certainly don't recommend it.

(Previously 3 stars) The rooms were cheap and well equipped, though the advertising photo made the location seem coastal when it isn't. I'm editing this because my party left some dirty dishes and management charged us a $50 cleaning fee without telling us beforehand. When I complained, they said to seek legal advice if I wasn't satisfied. The management service is appalling. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The unit was spacious enough for budget accommodation, with a working shower and an adequately equipped kitchen. It sits at the edge of town, but in such a small place that's still close to everything. The musty smell cleared fairly quickly once we opened the windows. Check-in was a bit of a wait. Reception was unmanned in the middle of the day, and we had to call. We were told the staff member was at the ferry and would be back in about half an hour. We were there roughly half an hour before check-in, to be fair, but hadn't known reception would be empty. When he returned, he checked us in and walked us to the unit. Then he gave us a long, unsolicited rundown of attractions and things to do, about 20 minutes. It was a nice gesture, but my partner and I just wanted to unpack and settle in, so we were glad when it was over.

Bring a blanket with you. The stay was really pleasant and it had the facilities we needed, including a toaster, electric kettle and stove, heating and cooling, some utensils, bath soap and towels. Worth staying.

***Do not stay at this hotel*** When we arrived at reception, manager Partick was drunk and couldn't check us in. He was abusive and told us to find somewhere else because the room wasn't ready. Very unprofessional. I'll never return and would recommend others do the same.
