Kiwarrak Country Retreat

Wandering through the gardens at Kiwarrak Retreat- the Bower gave me a real sense of welcome and wonder. It felt like someone wanted us to find some peace there. My husband and I had hoped for a few days away, and this was a place where we could breathe and just BE. Meg and Tara had considered every detail, from the welcome breakfast hamper with its delicate honey to the fire already laid for a cool evening. The kitchen was clean and well appointed, so even making a small meal was a pleasure. The bed looked inviting and was lovely to sleep in, with beautiful sheets and a very warm doona. The shared images match what you find in person. I can’t wait to come back.

The owners’ focus on reuse and recycling was lovely, right down to the cute jars and bottles for things like the homemade jam and juice. We had a magical mother-daughter weekend with my daughter, and everything was fantastic. There are bush trails to explore, a homemade sugar scrub and a proper full size spa. The welcome breakfast hamper was a nice touch too. We loved the dinner hamper with steak, absolutely divine. Well done, ladies. Beautiful place to stay, highly recommend.

The resident bower bird was amazing to watch, and we woke to country views and birds calling all around. I booked the weekend for my husband's birthday, and the setting was beautiful. Taree is a short drive away, and Old Bar is even closer. We ordered the dinner package and really enjoyed it, the portions were generous, and the homemade brownie with ice cream was amazing. The bed was so comfortable, and relaxing in the spa with a glass of champagne was a lovely way to finish. Highly recommended!

The staff member we asked for help had a condescending attitude, and it left us feeling unwelcome. The place itself was nice, but lots of small details felt off. The towels were so scratchy that drying off hurt, and the linen seemed tired, with mismatched pillowcases. The complimentary hamper wasn’t enough for two people, and there were few other complimentary touches. For this price, and compared with other places we’ve stayed, it didn’t feel like the luxurious experience they advertise.
