Opal Cove Resort

The kids had a brilliant evening playing pool and air hockey in the arcade, and we loved the whole atmosphere. I still can't believe the stay cost just $210 for four people, the cheapest of our past two weeks of bookings, including some pretty poor roadside motels. My son even wrote an essay in the car on the way to the Gold Coast about the “Best Hotel.” We were travelling from Sydney to Noosa and only wished we could have stayed longer at Opal Cove Resort. For Australia, it offers a very good standard at an excellent price. We travel a lot in Asia, Europe, and the US, and we'd definitely come back if we can. Thanks for having us and making Aussie service look a little better. The hotel is right by the beach, which isn't patrolled for swimming but is lovely for walks. The building is huge, with a beautiful layout, and it felt good to stay somewhere properly built and run. It's not new, though it seems to have been renovated. I wonder who designed it, perhaps Europeans. We stayed in family room #423. Inside it was new and modern; the bathroom looked a little dated but worked perfectly. The pool and slide were amazing for the kids, and we also enjoyed the hot bubble spa. Dinner at the Horizon Restaurant was excellent. We weren't expecting much because it had a 3.7 rating, but the food was really good, and we know good food. The staff there were friendly and professional. Across the resort, this was the first time we'd been welcomed by genuinely professional staff in a large building. I was surprised to read some unhappy reviews. Someone built this resort properly many years ago, unlike most motels and hotels in Australia.

Our rooms were spread across different floors and far apart, which made things difficult for guests with limited mobility. It would have been much easier if the group had been placed near the lifts and close to my room as host. Getting from the lower-floor lift to the restaurant also meant a long walk around the outside of the building to avoid stairs. Even so, our group of older people had a great one-night stay. A staff member came aboard our coach to welcome us and hand out keys, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms were clean and spacious, with appreciated ocean-view balconies, and the meals were plentiful and delicious. The building is older but generally in good condition, though it could use a fresh coat of paint. It's a beautiful, quiet location with great pools and facilities, and I'd recommend it.

The resort's calm, well-kept feel made it easy to relax, and the spacious, clean rooms were comfortable after a long day. We had a fantastic stay at Opal Cove Resort, right beside the beach with beautiful views. The facilities were well maintained, and staff were friendly, helpful, and ready to assist. One small thing that would make the rooms more convenient is bathroom slippers. We'd consider coming back.

The location was spot on, right beside the beach, with a big oval nearby and fun locals. We spent just one night there on Saturday for Valentine's Day, $190 for me and my partner, and had a blast. Getting around does mean lots of stairs and plenty of exercise! The resort was great. The staff were kind, friendly, helpful, and had a great attitude, top marks to them. I'd heard plenty about the resort being old, but I didn't care at all, it was perfect. The rooms were spot on, the gym was amazing, and the sauna, pool, and spa were lovely. The bar was great, the restaurant was perfect, and the buffet breakfast was right on point. Well recommended.
