The lake views were lovely, and there are huge Baobab trees around the site. We had a caravan spot during the off season, and they left every second space empty so the vans weren’t too close together. The amenities were clean, the pool was great, and a cheeky cockatoo was ready for a chat.

The lagoon and towering baobab trees make this a gorgeous park, and the gardens are beautifully kept. Staff were friendly and quick to help with questions or book tours. There’s even Gummy, a resident freshwater croc without any teeth, living in the lagoon. Absolutely stunning place to stay.

We’ve stayed here twice, but this will be our last time. On several occasions we were rudely woken by staff using very loud ride-on mowers or an engine-noisy work buggy around the park, sometimes as early as 7.30am. A weekend lie-in would be nice. Of course the grounds need maintaining, but running heavy, noisy equipment at more considerate times, such as afternoons or weekdays, would be appreciated. It really takes away from the peace of staying here. The cockatoo Popeye is kept in a small cage by the pool, and I found it plain animal cruelty. I checked earlier reviews and saw that plenty of guests have raised the same concern. How the bird came into your care, or whether you bought him or became his custodian, isn’t what matters to guests. You’ve said he’s old, wouldn’t survive in the wild and is well cared for, but food and water aren’t enough to justify keeping him locked in that little cage all day. We saw a frustrated bird stuck there. It’s shameful that the owners haven’t taken repeated guest concerns seriously.

We parked our motor home by the lake and had a fantastic view. The toilets were close enough, and there were washing facilities and clotheslines, plus a small pool to use. The showers were okay. There were lots of little midges near the washing area late in the evening.

We could easily have stayed longer than our five days. The park is green and spacious, with a scenic lake and a pool that we were very glad to have. The location and friendly service were great, and the place exceeded our expectations by a long way. Thanks to the owners and employees for making it such a lovely stay.
