King Reef Resort

Dinner at the bistro was a real highlight. The staff were exceptional, and the chicken schnitty was handmade, juicy, and tender, with golden chips, tasty gravy, and a delicious salad. I’ve worked in pubs for years and have high expectations for that classic meal, but this one delivered. I couldn’t fault it, and I’m a tough critic. We’d checked in with our kids for one night on the way back to Townsville. The welcome was so friendly, and our first spot seemed ideal, with a concrete slab near the amenities and just a few steps from the beach. But we were moved to site 26, directly under a huge tree dropping lots of seeds. Birds and bats kept dropping seeds and poo onto our van and car all night. The seeds were especially loud, and we barely slept, leaving us extremely tired for the drive home. The people in the van beside us were also unhappy about the mess from the tree. I’d rather have been told nothing else was available. I don’t understand how that counts as a spot. Save your 50 bucks if that’s what you’re offered.

After a harrowing road trip, this was an enjoyable place to stop. The bed was comfortable and the aircon worked well, though the motor or compressor made a bit of noise when it kicked in. The staff were 10/10. I didn’t get a chance to try the bistro, maybe next time. Thank you.

The pool was amazing, and the camping ground was great. The onsite bar and restaurant seemed well managed, with a good choice of food.

We parked our motorhome at a beach front site and had a beautiful view. The park was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
