Mantra Charles Hotel Launceston

The restaurant staff were excellent, and we enjoyed a tasty, nicely presented dinner. Breakfast was just as good. We were in Tasmania to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary, driving around for the first time with a lot to fit in, and I booked one night in Launceston. The hotel was well presented, with good parking and a spot close to the city centre. Staff were awesome, and the room was comfortable and very clean. We'll return.

The blinds have horizontal strips that let in plenty of light however you adjust them, so sleeping in a dark room could be difficult, or impossible. The hotel is okay otherwise. Rooms are fairly big with plenty of storage, and the pod coffee machine was good. Furniture looks a little tired and the bathroom is very dated, though clean. It's not close to much if you don't have a car. There's no gym, but a good coffee shop around the corner. Staff were nice.

We stayed two nights in a fairly small room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the one chair had such a low back that it wasn't comfortable to sit in. I've attached a photo of it under the desk. Reception was welcoming and parking was free. There's a restaurant, though we didn't try it.

Very unimpressed. At $300 a night, I got a room barely bigger than a broom closet, with too little cutlery and very average TV options. The only positives were being able to use the lift without a key and having a late checkout. As a member, I hadn't realized I'd end up at the bottom of the list for available rooms.
