Mercure Launceston Hotel

This was my second stay this year, most recently this week, and I got great service and recognition as a returning customer as well as an Accor Gold member. I'm not sure why other travellers leave negative reviews. The rooms are clean, well maintained and good value for the price. I'd highly recommend it in Launceston for the friendly service and value compared with older, more expensive accommodation there.

The parking was a little awkward, since the main area is steep and limited. Further up there's another section, but it's smaller and even steeper if the main one is full. We stayed three nights, and the receptionists, Michelle and Chelsea, were friendly and answered all our questions without any annoyance. Not the best hotel, but I guess it's good value for money.

Mercure Launceston is centrally located, within walking distance of the CBD, and we were satisfied with our stay. The rooms were clean and well kept. My one gripe: our room looked out onto the laundry 🧺!

The room was cozy, the staff courteous, and the continental breakfast had a surprisingly nice spread. But the bathroom cleaning was atrocious. There was mould and grime all along the window frame, and the window itself was extremely dirty and repulsive. It's a shame, because the stay was generally good, but that terrible cleaning let it down. I don't know how they missed all the mildew and mould; it suggests cleanliness isn't a high priority for them. Since this was a business booking, I also couldn't claim any credit on my ACCOR account. My employer, who booked on my behalf, has been advised and recommended not to use the hotel in future for these reasons.
