We hadn’t been inside the TRC for more than 20 years, so it was fun to reminisce with a staff member, possibly the manager, who knew a lot about the renovations and was happy to chat. It was busy, with a great atmosphere. The staff were warm and friendly, and it’s well placed for nearby attractions. They sometimes have live music or karaoke, too.

The walls were so thin we could hear full conversations next door, and the crockery looked disgusting, almost like a biohazard. It was also very hot the night we stayed because the air conditioning didn’t work. The fan they supplied was caked in dust and looked like it had never been cleaned. The rooms were filthy. Staff gave no explanation or apology, and offered no compensation. Avoid this hotel if you can. They’re cheap for a reason! Edit: We stayed in Jan 2024. Maybe if you hadn’t deleted my review from Jan 2024, you’d have seen that I posted it at the time.

I’ve spent six months working on a project in Launceston, and I keep coming back to the TRC. The rooms and food are good for the price, with a nice small-town feel.

Dropped in for a beer and found a great local crowd. The barman was good, too.

A proper old-fashioned pub, with friendly service, cold beer, and excellent standard pub food.
