I hope the food problems are just teething issues with the new management, but we won’t be back soon. Four of us ate there last night and three meals were mediocre. My pork ribs were the worst part: I needed a steak knife just to cut the three ribs, and most of the meat was too tough to eat. I used to look forward to them because they were soft, full of flavour, and generous. I asked to swap the cheese croquettes for chips, but couldn’t; I paid extra for a few fries and the four croquettes still came out, though I wasn’t eating them. The coleslaw on the ribs and pulled pork burger tasted like plain cabbage. The burger used to be amazing and, for $26, loaded with filling and better coleslaw. This one had barely any meat and flavourless slaw. The chicken was very dry, too. Between the tough meat, bland slaw, and croquettes I couldn’t eat, I managed less than a quarter of my plate. I know The Northside is under new management and may have teething issues, but it’s sad how much the food has declined.

We got there late and the staff were really helpful. The room was tidy and accommodating, and the pub had a lovely modern sparkle. We arrived too late for the Wednesday night bistro specials, but they looked worth checking out, and the value seemed good all round. Very pleased with my experience..xx

Friendly staff and a comfortable bed in a reasonably sized room. The room’s amenities were fine and it was good value for an overnight stay, though the Wi-Fi kept dropping out and sound carried badly. I could hear the person above using the toilet as well as noise outside my room. It was hard to find at first, and reception is in the pub area, but I got there in the end. The shower is across the room from the toilet, with the washbasin between.

The rooms were nice and clean, and the pub itself is awesome. Service was great, but the food was overpriced rubbish. The nachos were mostly chips, and I had to ask for more meat and beans. The Mongolian beef was dry and kid-sized. The schnitzels that came out looked great...

That Friday carbonara special was probably the worst pasta meal I’ve had. For $15, I know it was a Friday special, but it was barely an entrée portion, with maybe 100 grams of pasta. Instead of proper bacon, egg, and cheese, it had little cubes of ham or pizza bacon, no egg, and hardly any cheese. It was mostly cream, and not a main meal by any standard.
