The Art Deco furniture and layout really make the place. My partner and I stayed at Melville House on our way to Queensland, and the house was a lovely surprise. The rooms were clean and the service friendly.

We’ve stayed in some really good pet-friendly places, but Melville House is right at the top of our list. It covers what people need too: it’s comfortable and quiet, with a great self-serve breakfast and lovely ambience. The hosts are personable without getting in your way. For pet-friendly accommodation in Lismore, it ticks every box and more.

The pool area is lovely, with sparkling water, and even the resident water dragon seemed to like it. This is a charming historic building, and Charlie, the owner, is a friendly young man. The rooms and furniture have plenty of old-world character.

My daughter and our dog Mac really enjoyed staying here, thanks to the kindness of Charles and caretaker Mike. My daughter struggles with anxiety and felt safe staying on her own while I was in hospital for two nights. We had a large, comfortable room, though there was some road noise from the main road. Parking was a squeeze for our 4x4 ute, but manageable. The staff were all helpful and friendly, and the room and breakfast were reasonably priced, though I couldn't have breakfast because of surgery. The well-kept property has lovely old-world charm, with enough modern comforts while keeping its vintage feel and quirks. Charles and Mike were also very helpful with my booking questions. If we need to stay in Lismore again, we'll book at Melville House.

I came to see my oncologist and was so pleasantly surprised by this beautiful old house. It’s full of history and was presented so nicely. Charles was a lovely host. Thanks for sharing this charming place with us. I’d highly recommend it.
