The Sherwood Hotel

We managed about an hour of sleep before leaving. The bar downstairs played unbearably loud music, and the beer-smelling hallway had large empty rubbish boxes by the upper entrance, which looked bad and felt unsafe. There was no phone in the room to reach management and not even a card with their number. The blinds kept falling off the window. There was no milk in the room, and when I asked, it never arrived. I asked again and was told they were waiting for me to come back. Why? I booked at the last minute through Wotif. The listing made the place sound like a boutique hotel, but I found a smelly old pub that seemed poorly renovated and still under reconstruction. The description was written by the place’s promotions manager, not an independent reviewer, and was plainly biased and wrong. After we complained, a rather rude young man, Josh Macdonald, who said he was the licensee, promised a full refund for our two nights at 2$95 a night. Nearly three weeks later, nothing had arrived, just as I expected. Give this place a very wide berth!
