The people here give YAL such a friendly, caring feel. Shane, the manager and son of Carol (mummy dragon) and Dad Geary, is full of life, lovely to talk with, and seems born to serve others. Carol and Dad Geary live onsite too, and when I needed an Uber into Cairns Central, they would charge $10 for a trip. I visit sunny Cairns often, and YAL has to be the best kept secret, tucked away but convenient to all the nearby places you’d want to visit in the city. It feels focused on family and community. I was struck by how spacious and clean each of the 37 rooms was. Access to the gym, BBQ, storage bays, boardroom, and conference room was entirely free, and I shot hoops on the outdoor court every day. Breakfast is served every morning for under $10, and it’s ridiculously good. A full load of laundry cost me less than $5.00. What I got from staying at YAL far outweighed what I paid for the accommodation. I’m staying there again with my family on my next visit to Cairns.

Letitia gave me a very warm welcome. I stayed just one night, and the clean, good-sized bedroom had enough utilities for most people. There’s secure parking and a covered pool area. Good value for money, and I’d come again.

I’ve stayed at this motel several times, and it used to be clean and free of bugs. On my last visit, the room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. The microwave and toilet were dirty, and the bathroom bin was full of trash. I was really disappointed.

It was nice and quiet, family friendly, and the pool and BBQ area with seating were great. The room was lovely and clean, the bathroom outstanding, and the bed very comfortable. The managers were friendly and down to earth, with no fuss. It’s a bonus that some of the money goes towards helping young people. Highly recommended.

The on-site managers were really helpful and accommodating, and the accommodation was new and comfortable, with a very comfy bed. The pool was nice and parking secure. We used the conference room for a training night, and it was exceptional quality and a big success. Great value, highly recommended.
