Atlantis Marcoola

The kids had a great time with the play area, tennis, jumping bed and basketball, and there’s a big pool with a kids’ pool and a warm jacuzzi too. The location was handy, near the bus station, cafes and pharmacy, with grocery shopping about a 10-minute bus ride away. We had a wonderful family holiday. It would’ve been nice to have two tissue boxes in each room and some extra toilet paper. The microwave wasn’t working, which was a bit annoying, but everything else was awesome. Thank you, Atlantic.

The apartments are spacious, clean and comfortable, and there’s undercover parking. We’ve stayed here many times over the past 10+ years, usually in level 4 ocean view rooms, though sometimes on level 5 or 3. The views stretch along the coast and out to sea. It’s a convenient location, with a great pool and outdoor recreation area. Reception staff are friendly and helpful.

The pool, play area and beach were just what we wanted for our holiday, so we’d probably stay here again if we came back to the area. We had a lovely stay, though the dishwasher in our room was broken the whole time, which was very annoying.

The location is great, with a patrolled beach right there, plus shops and a walking and riding path. But the unit was a major letdown, and definitely wasn’t worth our hard-earned money. My wife and I had admired Atlantis for years. This was our first time away in a very long time because of our work pattern, and it happened to be our 17th wedding anniversary. Most of the online pictures matched what we found, but at more than four hundred dollars a night, I expected a CD player and DVD player in the unit. There weren’t any. We’d brought music from our day and a DVD of it to listen to and watch, and for the first time in 17 years of marriage we couldn’t relive that lovely day. It was a huge disappointment. The unit was in poor condition and not clean. There was rust, peeling paint and dirt throughout, dust around the ceiling vents, and a ridiculous amount of dirt and dust under the bed after I dropped a coin there. The wardrobe door mouldings were coming off the wall, the bedroom remote’s battery cover was broken, and the bent towel rail kept popping off at one end. The rooftop wasn’t appealing either. There was what looked like oil running down the glass door and mould or something around the self-closing mechanism. The shade cloth over the table was rotten and mouldy. The day lounge had cobwebs and no cushions, and after putting down a towel to relax, I could see more cobwebs on the glass panels by the view. The table between the day lounges was broken. We weren’t going to use the BBQ area: the BBQ was grotty, there were more cobwebs, the sink was dirty, and the whole space felt uninviting. Mould isn’t good for anyone. Sorry, there’s nothing positive to say about how the unit has been looked after. We’re very disappointed. Brian and Sharon
