Ramada By Wyndham Marcoola Beach

We got room 3404 through a Groupon deal and were really pleased with it. After reading the reviews, I wondered if the other two towers might not be as nice as the one we had. The king bed was a lovely surprise and so comfortable. I’d been nervous about the airport across the road, but we couldn’t hear it at all. Even during peak getaway time in December, the place felt incredibly peaceful, almost like we had it to ourselves. Everything was very clean, smelled fresh, and there were plenty of towels. A couple of bathroom fixtures looked dated and due for replacement, but there really wasn’t much to complain about. I could easily have stayed for a couple of weeks. The walking tracks were fantastic, and the patrolled beach is right in front of the resort. Steph was really helpful, and we’d definitely stay again. I only wish we’d received a confirmation text or email, though that wasn’t a big issue.

We booked three nights for a quick, spontaneous trip. The staff were so friendly, the three-bedroom apartment was spacious and great for families, and the facilities were good. The restaurant food was nice too. We gave five stars because our later evening flight was cancelled at the last minute, and the hotel was fantastic about accommodating us straight away. We stayed one night in a two-bedroom apartment, which was impressive, freshly renovated and so clean.

We cut our stay short after one problem followed another, and I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. In the central tower, rooms 4207 and 3202 were both disappointing. The first was dirty, with a mouldy ceiling, a grimy shower, a leak under the sink, dripping sounds from the air con, and a strong sick-like smell coming from the drains. They moved us to a newly renovated room when I asked, but the work seemed only surface deep and the same issues remained. Please see the pictures. A cockroach was on the floor when we went back to bed, after next door woke us at midnight with loud music. The front desk didn't answer, so we had to knock and ask them to turn it down. I spoke to staff the next day, and they seemed used to getting complaints. I asked for some money back and was told they'd talk to the manager, but nobody got back to us. I'd never complained about a hotel before, things happen, but this place was one thing after another. It's two stars at best. I've stayed in much nicer hostels.

We had a really restful four nights here in a self-contained apartment, with easy access to Sunshine Coast tourist attractions. The grounds are lovely, and the pool area has something for kids of all ages. There's a great atmosphere, helped along by the friendly staff. Our room was clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The restaurant served great meals, and the beach was just through the back gates.
