My wife and I stayed at Yallingup Lodge Spa Retreat for one night, but left and drove back to Perth. The room had no hot water, sticky doorknobs, and coasters stuck to the bedside tables. The floors smelled strongly of alcohol and cigarette smoke, making the place feel dirty and poorly maintained. The owner's reception was rude and unwelcoming from the start. When I called about the TV not working, there was no answer. An hour later, the owner called back to say they'd missed my call. I explained the problem and was told, “Oh, that’s odd, I’ll send someone over to have a look.” Nobody came. As we were leaving, we passed the owners driving up the driveway with pizza boxes. About 10 minutes later, I got a text saying that “the birds must have knocked the antenna over and someone will come look at it tomorrow.” Since we were only there for one night, that was no help. Between the service, the lack of basic functionality and the cleanliness problems, it was one of the worst accommodation experiences we've had. We won't return, and I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're expecting a relaxing, professional retreat.

I've stayed at this secluded bush retreat many times, and it never disappoints. The grounds and staff are fabulous, as are the cocktails and grazing platters featuring local produce and vegetarian options. Breakfast overlooking the property is always delicious, with eggs and produce from the property. It's my favourite place to stay down south.

Being able to bring our dog was the main thing I liked. The room was okay, breakfast was really nice, and the location was decent. The massage, though, was the worst I've ever had. I don't think she knew how to massage. She poured about a liter of oil over my body and into my hair, and I had to shower twice to get it out. I wouldn't recommend having a massage here, and I never want to come back.

I was travelling solo with my dog for my birthday, and the way things were handled left me so disappointed that I turned the car around and went home, losing >$400. I can't comment on the facilities because I ended up going back to Perth. There seemed to be potential for lots of clients, but I won't recommend the place to anyone. I'm a woman with anxiety and ADHD, and after some calls I started being asked if I could be there 3 hours before my spa appointment, then to pay while I was driving. The phone manner was appalling. If the situation had been handled differently, I wouldn't have had a panic attack or felt like I was beneath the place. If you have mental illness, don't bother with this place. They may ruin the experience and worsen your anxiety. Don't waste your money.
