Argyle on the Park

The basement parking was a major problem for me. Bay 23 needed a million-point turn to enter and had pillars on both sides, so I had to line the car up carefully. Reversing out meant a brick wall behind me, and the spaces are very tight, especially for a family-sized sedan. Something dripped from the basement ceiling onto my car. I hope it was water, but I don’t think so. It left run marks on the bonnet and roof and discolouration on the door trim, and seemed to damage the paint. I’ve included photos. I was so annoyed about the car that I was glad I stayed no longer than 2 weeks. The Wi-Fi was almost nonexistent 99% of the time, with a VERY WEAK signal, so I used mobile data instead and it drained my phone battery. That also affected the TV, whose features weren’t working, including YouTube and LG Channels. On the first day I had no coffee satchets in the room and had to ask for some. I got only 4, compared with around 8 sugar satchets and plenty of milk, which made it seem like the room hadn’t been properly prepared. There was one small keg of soap, not 2 or 3 like at almost every other place. The courtesy luggage trolleys also turned out to require permission from the service desk, which I only learned after using one. I follow rules, but this place seemed to have rules for breathing. I’ve stayed at ALOT of other places, and this was the stingiest. Bring your own toilet paper, soap, shampoo and washing powder, and a CAR COVER! They provide just 2 small shampoo bottles and one keg of soap. The rooms do have a washer and dryer, stovetops, microwave, utensils and dishwasher, but the building is a dump and needs rebuilding from the basement up. During storms, the lift was out for the night, and the owner didn’t say over the loudspeaker which stairs to take. We had to use the fire escape, which wouldn’t let us back to our floor without a key and didn’t go to the basement, so you’d get wet if it was raining. The owners are alright, but not always in the office. Absolutely not worth the room price. I’ve stayed in motels that would put this building to shame. Can’t believe it’s a 4-star hotel, it deserves 1 star.
