I’m raising a serious concern about how a red envelope with approximately $500 in cash was handled after being left on a table. It should have been reported as lost property, but the staff member on duty, the long-haired woman wearing a hat who was acting as restaurant/catering manager, took it and did not disclose or report it. Regardless of the amount, I consider this misconduct and a failure of the integrity and professionalism expected of staff, especially someone in a supervisory role. Hospitality workers know what should and shouldn’t be taken. Not reporting lost property creates a serious trust and compliance concern, and makes me wonder what could happen in a more serious situation. I believe this needs immediate attention, and question whether someone who behaves this way should hold a position of responsibility in the business. I’m raising it in good faith so the matter can be properly investigated and addressed.

The pub itself is great and the food pretty good, but the service felt pretty ordinary. The younger bar girl in particular had poor customer service skills and a sour grape face. The older manager was friendly and helpful. I won’t be back, even though it’s my local, until it feels more welcoming. Maybe some background music would help.

The restaurant was the highlight. The service was fantastic and they explained the gluten-free choices for coeliacs. There were lots of options, and the gluten-free Aussie chicken parmigiana was amazing, though I struggled to finish it. The kids’ meals were a good size too, and my mum was impressed with her pizza. They even brought it to our room. We tried to come for lunch the next day, but we were too late. Check-in didn’t make the best first impression, as the person meant to check us in was outside smoking. The room wasn’t fancy, but it had what we needed: beds, a fridge, air con and a shower. I’d stay again.

We went for a farewell dinner, and my gluten-free, dairy-free Hawaiian Chicken Schnitzel was delicious, tender and juicy.
