A Cottage in the Forest

The pictures don't do this place justice. It's beautiful, private and so peaceful that we stayed in the whole time. The huge spa bath, breakfast basket, DVDs and games all made it a wonderful stay. They also supplied the sparkling water we requested since we don't drink. The bedroom TV was broken, but it didn't really affect us. Thanks to the team who maintain the place, it's perfect and we can't wait to return. You'll definitely need a medium or large car for that very steep driveway!

We really enjoyed our stay. There were lovely views, it was cosy, and all the amenities were provided. We made good use of the very large spa bath, and there was a great DVD selection for a quiet night in. The heater went out overnight on both nights, so mornings were quite chilly. There was also a brown ring at the waterline of the bathtub that a quick scrub could have removed.

A perfect winter escape for our anniversary, it felt like home away from home. We loved relaxing by the fireplace and looking out at the forest from the bedroom. The one issue was the bottom of the driveway, right by the front door. The potholes and uneven ground weren't suitable for some cars. In our large SUV with all-terrain tyres, we got slightly bogged and couldn't get out for about 30 minutes. We eventually made it up, but it took a lot of effort and was a bit of a panic. Hopefully the owners have looked into it since our visit. Otherwise, we loved it!

We mostly stayed tucked away in the cottage because the weather wasn’t good for taking our 7-month-old out. A quick trip to Monbulk, about 10 minutes away, got us groceries and food. The view from bed in the morning was beautiful, and gave us a good reason to linger. It’s a cosy place for a short break from busy work life, especially in winter when you can light the fire and unwind. My wife, baby and I had an amazing stay. We’ll be back.
