Amity Apartment Hotels

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the location suited us well. We stayed in three apartments across seven days, though the reason for the requested move to the third one was never clear. The apartments had the amenities we needed, but cleanliness was uneven: floors and beds were fine, while some walls, doors and picture glass were quite grubby. Our last apartment faced Yarra train station, so it was hotter and noisier than the others. One night, people in the apartment below talked loudly until 5am. I wouldn't choose that particular apartment again. We know cleaning staff can be hard to find these days, but on a future visit we'd need somewhere away from roads and trains.

We were there for six days, including part of Easter, and our room wasn't serviced. There was no notice on the empty ground floor office window saying Reception had moved to the 1st Floor, where extra supplies were available. A staff member we met in the lift said we could email anytime for things we needed, and presumably for cleaning too if we didn't want to go upstairs. The room had decent storage, useful cooking and laundry facilities, and was spacious, though the decor felt a little muted. Amity's Claremont Street property is well placed for cafes, restaurants, the Chapel St and Toorak Rd shopping areas, South Yarra train station and the tram on Toorak Rd.

We slept poorly because our room looked out over the railway line, and we're not used to trains going by at night. Apart from that, it was a very pleasant stay. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and rideshares could pick us up easily. Amity is handy for restaurants, shops and the railway station, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

We chose an apartment for one night before a show at Rod Laver Arena. It was quiet, warm and clean, and had everything we needed, including a washing machine and dryer with washing powder supplied. The staff were friendly too. Parking under the apartments was handy, since Claremont Street is narrow and one way, with construction taking up many spaces. We'd stay again and recommend it.
