We loved staying here. Having a proper house instead of the usual branded serviced apartment was a real plus. Ours had two bedrooms for up to four people. It might not be as modern or flashy as the apartment chains, but it was clean, and it looked like a fair amount of renovation had been done to keep it in good shape. The price was much lower, so it was excellent value. The kitchen had enough cutlery and utensils to make meals, as well as a dishwasher, and there was a washer and dryer. Free parking was right outside.

Unit 2 was handy for our needs and didn’t feel cramped like a hotel room. The central heating was excellent, and the bed linen and pillows were good. The bathroom, though, was terrible. The shower was only about 700mm by 700mm, and its base had a 300mm crack that looked years old. The grout went from beige at the top to black at the bottom, and there was disgusting mould around the badly fitting screen. There was a broken-looking hole in the wall and drips of something on the main bedroom door. We also happened to be there when trees were being removed in the courtyard, with chainsaws starting around 8am one morning. It was close to where we needed to be. The bathroom needs replacing, and I’d be happy to stay again if that happened.

If you’re visiting Melbourne with family, this could be an option. There’s a two-bedroom family room, free parking, and it’s a quiet place to rest. It’s quite a way from the city, but I don’t think that distance is a big issue if you rent a car. It’s right by a Coles supermarket.

My family and I were very happy at Mount Waverley Townhouses. We’d recently moved to Melbourne from overseas and stayed in one of the townhouses. Edward looked after us the whole time. He was always friendly, smiling, and ready to help with anything. He was gentle and kind with my kids, and the best host you could ask for. Thanks to Edward and Jane for being such kind people. We’ll definitely visit him again when we’re in the Mount Waverley area.

We came with three kids under six and got in late on Friday, around 10:30pm. I’d said we wouldn’t need a cot, but the host offered again when we arrived. We did end up needing one, and they brought it over around midnight without any fuss. The host was incredible and cheerfully helped whenever we needed something. The place has great facilities and lots of space. This is our go-to accommodation from now on.
