The grounds are a big part of what makes Balangara special: there are 100-year-old trees, tucked-away ferny paths, benches, and about half a dozen spectacular views. It's also only a short walk into town, with boutique shops to browse and the famous Miss Marple's Tearoom down the street. Inside, the gorgeous retro-style B&B carries its theme through beautifully while still feeling classy and comfortable. You don't need to leave the property to unwind. I'll definitely bring my girlfriend back soon.

The hosts, Sue and Frank, were helpful and friendly without hovering. We stayed in this comfortable, cosy B&B among sweeping gardens, and the carefully put-together retro memorabilia brought back so many childhood memories. It's close to the Olinda shopping centre, the Rhododendron Gardens, and Cloud Hill Nursery. We had a romantic dinner at the Wild Oak restaurant, then a delicious self-serve breakfast. I was so impressed that I'm going back for a birthday voucher for my brother and his wife. They'll be thrilled.
