Causeway Inn On The Mall

The rooms are quite small, and you get what you pay for. Breakfast costs extra, and the cafes downstairs offer better value. Staff were pleasant enough, but often seemed unsure what they were doing. One morning I left late and asked them not to miss cleaning my room. They did miss it. My wife then had to physically stop a staff member and wrestle a toilet roll from him after we’d repeatedly asked for an extra one. Good times.

The location is fantastic, and we’d definitely stay again. Our small room was clean, with a comfortable bed, and the price was good value. Continental breakfast was included, and parking was reasonably priced per exit. We used the free tram while we were there, so only paid for one exit on the day we checked out.

The lifts are really slow, and you have to take two to reach the rooms. Aside from that, the location is excellent, right in the heart of Melbourne and surrounded by great cafes. The room is small, but that didn’t bother me since we spent most of our time out. Reception service was good, and someone was always ready to help.

The room was comfortable and the staff were nice, but we had a couple of problems. The lifts broke down, so everyone had to use the stairs. I felt for the guests on the higher floors. There was also trouble with the door cards, and after being out all day we came back to find our room door ajar. Apparently the cleaners hadn’t shut it behind them, which isn’t okay for guests.
