Dorset Gardens Hotel

The end result was far beyond what we expected. Bell and her team were professional throughout and gave me a perfect birthday party in the hotel’s Samara Room, where I celebrated with 80 guests. Everything was beautifully arranged, the food was delicious and plentiful, and bar service was quick and efficient. Before the event, we had plenty of chances to come in and talk through the details so everything would suit our preferences. On the night, nothing was overlooked. Thank you, Bell and the Dorset Gardens Events Team!

The staff were excellent, as usual 👏👏. We’ll give the roast another try and hope it returns to its usual top standard, since the DG is known for fabulous roasts. Today’s beef was tough and chewy, with lots of gristle. The vegetables were usually amazing, but this time it was just roast potatoes, boiled carrots, broccoli, and zucchini. We missed the usual delicious roast pumpkin and onion along with the other vegetables. Such a shame, as we’ve enjoyed the beef and pork roasts many times and always look forward to the roast of the day. Hopefully today was a one-off.

We tried lamb rump with veggies, rib eye steak with mash and salad, and panko crumb calamari with chips and salad. All the flavours were lovely, portions were very generous, and the prices felt like good value. There’s a good range of dishes on the pub menu, including specials, and you can have bread rolls with your meal.

Dorset Gardens, this was really disappointing. I come here often for a porterhouse steak with roast vegetables, but tonight my steak was swimming in oil. The roast vegetables were incredibly salty, and I felt like I was going to die. The so-called sauce wasn’t pepper gravy at all, just oil with a few peppercorns here and there. My chips and vegetables were swimming in it too, and my mouth and lips felt oily. I could barely eat them and felt disgusting. I thought you knew better, Mr Dorset.
