Elizabeth Hostel

It's improved a lot since my first visit, and I think it's better than the reviews here suggest. After a deep clean, my room had no bed bugs, smell, or mold, and the bathroom and fridge were clean too. There are still lots of crazy people around, and some receptionists are unkind, especially one with a short haircut shaped like an egg sushi.

The whole place smelled like weed, and the room was disgusting and had a bad smell. The window smelled like rubbish too. The staff member working Saturday around 10:30am was mean and rude, a Chinese girl with blond hair. I have no idea what was wrong with her.

The room was stuffy and uncomfortable the whole time, with a really bad smell and no proper ventilation. The kitchen was dirty and didn't look like it was cleaned often, which was disappointing. Staff were very unfriendly and not helpful at all, making an already bad stay worse. Honestly, one of my worst hostel experiences. I wouldn't stay again. There are much better places in Melbourne for the same price.

I spent one night here with my brother, and the room had no window. The sheets didn’t look clean, so I slept in my clothes. The next day I found bites that were still there four days later, which made me wonder about fleas or bed bugs. There’s no age limit in the shared rooms, either. The place feels very old and smells strongly of damp upstairs. I didn’t use the kitchen, but it wasn’t inviting, and one of the women’s showers is right by the kitchen entrance with hardly any privacy. The location was good and the reception staff I met were friendly, but the accommodation itself isn’t suitable. It doesn’t look like the photos, at least not anymore. Honestly, this was the worst hostel I’ve stayed in. If you’re a woman traveling alone, I wouldn’t stay here, even if it’s cheap.
