Emerald Creek Cottages

The room was great and the scenery around Emerald Creek Cottages was beautiful, but the owner, Naomi, completely ruined our stay. We were a family of three. The next morning, when I stepped outside, she angrily confronted me with a strange, smug expression and accused us of having four people in the room. She insisted my mother was inside and demanded an extra charge. I was shocked, told her that wasn’t true, and offered to let her check or call everyone out to prove it. She refused at first, then reluctantly said, “Fine, I apologize,” but remained unfriendly and said the house next door had many people and she was upset. It felt as though she might have been watching us and mistaken someone else for a fourth guest. It was the strangest and most unpleasant experience of our 12-day road trip in Australia. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend the place. Avoid it if you don’t want a similar encounter.

The little treats in the room were a lovely bonus, and the forestview cottage felt roomy, clean, and welcoming. We only stayed one night, but I’d happily recommend this cosy place.

We spent a peaceful, quiet break at Emerald Creek Cottages, and Naomi made us feel welcome from the start. The cottage had everything we needed, including air-conditioning, and we enjoyed the welcome goodies and sitting outside watching the birds. The shower pressure was just right after a morning bush walk. We didn’t try the jacuzzi, but we’re already looking forward to a winter visit for the fireplace and chilly mornings in the Ranges.

We only needed somewhere nearby to stay while renovations were happening overnight, so feeling like we’d gone on holiday was a lovely surprise. The cottage was spotless, beautifully set up, and full of thoughtful touches. Naomi has clearly put real care into making guests feel special, going well beyond the box-ticking we’ve seen from some local businesses over our decades here.
