After a nine hour trip, we arrived exhausted and hoping for somewhere comfortable in Melbourne. Instead, the room had ants, a strong mouldy smell, dirty sheets, and a bed we couldn’t use. We only stayed because the alternative was sleeping in the car. The owner offered to “pay for the bug spray” we had to buy and to “fix the bed” after we found it broken. The “sofa bed” was stained and in such poor condition it looked like hard rubbish picked up off the street. The fridge was heavily dented and dirty too. We barely slept, and left as soon as another hotel confirmed they could take us. We didn’t even try to make coffee. We had to change accommodation for our comfort and basic hygiene. The owner should be ashamed of the property’s condition. I wouldn’t stay again even for free, and strongly recommend avoiding it.

We booked for a three day weekend in Melbourne and have just left. It was okay in the basic sense that there was a bed and a working kitchen and bathroom, but there were a lot of cleanliness problems. We found someone’s used boxers in a bathroom drawer, stained with poop and cum. The pots and pans were old and scratched, and seemed like unwanted kitchenware someone had donated. There were ants in the building, with no ant killer provided, and we later learned this had been an issue for previous guests. The shower amenities were partly broken, and there were small stains on the wall. The listing on booking.com said there would be a private balcony, but it was shared with someone in the neighbouring building. The washing machine was outside, which wasn’t mentioned, and didn’t work properly. When we called about the boxers, the woman was dismissive and didn’t want to do anything to put it right. Check-in was very late, which seemed odd given how many cleanliness issues we found and the time available to make the place suitable for paying guests. She refused a refund. We couldn’t afford to find another place, so we had to stay for our time in Melbourne. Attached is a photo of the stained boxers we found.

The bed was awful, honestly less comfortable than my swag. The place hadn't been cleaned properly when I arrived, and the TV they supplied didn't work. Wi-Fi couldn't handle streaming basketball or gaming, either. Way overpriced. I'd go to a motel if you can.
