Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Southbank by IHG

Easy walk to the MCG, and the staff were professional. The room was clean and tidy, though very basic and short on space. The toilet and shower door was an odd design, but I understand it saves room. Breakfast is free, which is handy, but it wasn’t very nice. You take the lift to level 7 when you arrive, then scan your card in the lift for your room floor. No need to scan it to go back down. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

I chose not to have my room serviced during my two night stay, since the hotel is largely eco friendly. It’s close to Southgate and Southbank, and the room was just the right size, with a large shower and good bathroom. Check-in was smooth and the staff were polite. A nice hotel with excellent rooms, amenities and location. A really pleasant stay.

Great value for money for our one night stay, and the room was quiet. It was tidy and modern. The pillows were pretty comfortable, but the bed was quite hard for us since we prefer something medium to soft. The buffet breakfast was basic.

Shareen let me use the gym while I waited for my room after I arrived at 10:30 a.m. from a 15 hour flight. She came out from behind the desk, showed me other parts of the hotel and pointed out the great breakfast for the morning. Really nice hotel, a three minute walk from the River and 20 minutes to AO. My room on the 22nd floor had a great view over the City and River.
